Enantiomer
E|nan|ti|o|mer [Kurzw. aus ↑ enantio- u. ↑ Isomer], das; -s, -e, auch: E|nan|ti|o|me|re, das; -n, -n; veraltete Syn.: Antipode, optischer Antipode: ein optisch aktives Molekül mit mindestens einem Chiralitätszentrum (↑ Chiralität), zu dem es ein nichtdeckungsgleiches, spiegelbildsymmetrisch gebautes (enantiomeres) Molekül mit entgegengesetzter ↑ Konfiguration am Chiralitätszentrum ↑ asymmetrischen Atom gibt. Zur Beschreibung der Konfiguration bedient man sich der Stereodeskriptoren D u. L oder R u. S (vgl. Glycerinaldehyd, Weinsäure u. Diastereoisomerie). Beide E. haben dieselben chem. u. physikal. Eigenschaften mit Ausnahme des Vorzeichens ihrer optischen Drehung, eventueller physiol. Eigenschaften u. unterschiedlichen Verhaltens gegenüber chiralen Reagentien. Ein Gemisch aus gleichen Teilen der beiden E. ist ein optisch inaktives ↑ Racemat aus Racematen können durch ↑ Enantiomerentrennung beide E. wieder isoliert werden.
